Avipro® Salmonella Duo

Vaccine against Salmonella Infections in Chickens

Avipro® Salmonella Duo is a live attenuated, freeze-dried vaccine containing two live attenuated strains of Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium, designed to induce active immunity in chickens. The vaccine helps reduce faecal shedding of Salmonella, reduce bacterial invasion of internal organs, and reduce the penetration of Salmonella Enteritidis into eggs.

Duration of Immunity After the Final Vaccination:

• 52 weeks against Salmonella Enteritidis strains.
• 46 weeks against Salmonella Typhimurium strains.

Dosage Form

Live attenuated, freeze-dried vaccine.

Route of Administration

Oral administration.

Active Ingredients

Each dose contains:

• Live attenuated Salmonella Enteritidis, strain Sm24/Rif12/Ssq: ≥ 1 × 10⁸ CFU.
• Live attenuated Salmonella Typhimurium, strain Nal2/Rif9/Rtt: ≥ 1 × 10⁸ CFU.

CFU: Colony-Forming Units.

Indications

For active immunisation of chickens to:

• Reduce faecal shedding of Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium.
• Reduce the invasion of internal organs by Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium.
• Reduce the penetration of Salmonella Enteritidis into eggs.

Target Species

Chickens.

Dosage

1 dose per bird per vaccination.

The optimal vaccination programme consists of 3 vaccinations per bird.

Directions for Use

• First vaccination: At 1 day of age.
• Second vaccination: At 6–8 weeks of age.
• Third vaccination: At approximately 16 weeks of age.
• Do not use in laying hens or during the 3 weeks preceding the onset of lay.
• Drinking water used to reconstitute the vaccine must not contain detergents or disinfectants.

Withdrawal Period

21 days.
